LMS Integration
LMS Integration (Learning Management System)
LMS Integration is the technical connection between a proctoring or assessment platform and a Learning Management System, such as Canvas, Moodle, Blackboard, or Brightspace, that allows the two systems to share data and coordinate workflows automatically, typically through Single Sign-On (SSO) and standards such as LTI (Learning Tools Interoperability). It enables candidates to launch proctored exams directly from within their institution's LMS and allows results, flags, and session data to flow back without manual transfer between platforms.
A Learning Management System is the central hub through which most educational institutions manage coursework, assignments, and assessments. When proctoring software integrates directly with an LMS, it removes the friction of candidates navigating to a separate platform, creating a separate account, and manually reconciling their exam record afterward. Instead, the student accesses the proctored exam as a natural extension of their course environment, and administrative staff see results where they already manage grades and course activity.
Integration is achieved through standards-based connections, most commonly LTI, which allows a proctoring tool to embed securely within an LMS interface. Single Sign-On protocols mean candidates authenticate once through their institution's existing credentials rather than managing a separate login for the proctoring platform. This reduces both technical friction at exam launch and the volume of password and access issues that generate support requests.
For administrators, integration meaningfully reduces manual workload. Session data, behavioral flags, completion status, and results can flow directly into the grade book or reporting dashboard, and exam access windows can be configured and controlled from within the LMS rather than requiring duplicate setup in a separate system. Security profiles, accommodations, and scheduling that already exist in the LMS environment do not need to be rebuilt elsewhere.
LMS integration is one of the most important practical considerations when evaluating a proctoring partner. A platform that does not connect cleanly with an institution's existing environment places unnecessary burden on administrators to manage two systems in parallel and on candidates to navigate an unfamiliar interface immediately before a high-stakes exam. Proctor360 integrates with most major LMS platforms and third-party test publishers, ensuring that proctoring enhances existing workflows rather than disrupting them.
